Niagara on the Lake Bridal Shower | Pillar and Post

Typically, as the weather starts to warm up the birds start chirping, the flowers start to slowly blossom, and bridal Shower season begins. Sadly, with the changes in the world things will progress much more cautiously and may be more likely to happen online than in person. Between the welcoming of Spring and celebration of soon-to-be Mrs, the energy and laughter that fills the room is what we are missing most over here. Surely, the event industry has changed greatly these past twelve months, and we may feel these changes for some time to come, but we know that the bride-to-be will still be able to feel the love and excitement from friends and family by hosting something virtually!

Niagara on the Lake Wedding | Prince of Wales | Leza + Michael

Who would have thought that we would be starting our wedding season off a bit earlier than usual last year? An intimate elopement became the norm for the season. Cathy, from Cathy Davis and Co. and I were the only two in attendance and had the pleasure of witnessing their marriage.

No-one could have predicted that just a short month later we would be under a nationwide lockdown. Weddings were being cancelled and postponed left and right, only to resume again in this exact fashion. Small, intimate weddings have never been something new, but they were definitely not mainstream until now. And as much as we love big traditional weddings with lots of drinks, food, and dancing, there is something ultra romantic amount a ceremony built for two, or ten.

Niagara on the Lake Summer Engagement Session

A stop in front of the soon-to-be wedding location was a must during our photo shoot as Queen’s Landing is a much-loved spot for the couple.

Kim and Stuart made it easy to capture great images, and if they were shy in front of the camera, you couldn’t tell – all we could see was pure adoration these two had for each other. Their love story has just begun, and we were excited to capture this couple’s next chapter.

A Fall Wedding at Queen's Landing Hotel

In all the years that we have been photographing weddings, we have seen bouquets not make it to the ladies waiting, pass them completely, not even reach their direct, hit the ceiling and sprinkle down a slew of flowers, but this was a first. She landed it right in the chandelier! It didn't waiver at all, it just landed perfectly, believe me, we were watching. Thankfully one brave young ring bearer got up on his father's shoulders and pulled it down (safely).

Part two. We love this.

Kimberly + Stuart were already married a year prior. They hosted a small intimate celebration with just family. This was their way of celebrating with all their family and friends, by hosting a wedding reception at Queens Landing in the fall.

Enjoy some teasers from their wedding (part two).

Niagara on the Lake Wedding Photographers: Pillar and Post Inn and Spa

Some people stay engaged for years trying to decide the first big step: large or small wedding. Creating and finalizing a guest list is probably one of the hardest things to planning a wedding, and unfortunately something a planner cannot help with. Wouldn't that be nice though? If they had veto power over all the guests that your mother says you have to invite because "We went to their kid's wedding". That sounds like a dream.

Putting off your wedding shouldn't have to happen. You deserve to have the wedding of your dreams, no matter how big or small. Often times smaller intimate weddings are couples who have been married in the past, they might be a little older, and have kids whom are married themselves.

After a wonderful evening at Inniskillin Wines for their rehearsal dinner, we headed to Pillar and Post for Laura + Jake's wedding to continue the party.

They had a beautiful outdoor Jewish ceremony at the Miller House followed by fantastic party headed up by Michael Coombs Entertainment. This is a big post, so let's just get to the images.
